Our take
Continuous 62 mm paper tape lets the QL cut each label to whatever length the job needs — long file-box labels, short name badges, anything in between. Brother's genuine DK-22205 is about £14 a roll; this ten-pack is the best-reviewed compatible and works out under £3 a roll. Compatibles ship as bare rolls, so you'll need one genuine DK spool (keep the one from the box) to mount them on.

- ✅ WARNING: Please ensure that both sides of the holder bracket are properly aligned (just rotate them to adjust). Misalignment will cause the printer to encounter an error and prevent it from printing. To maintain label quality, avoid direct sunlight exposure or covering labels with adhesive tape, which can cause fading due to chemical reactions.
Genuine vs compatible — which should you buy?
Genuine cartridges cost more per page but carry the maker's warranty, hit the quoted page yield reliably, and never trip firmware "unrecognised cartridge" blocks.
Compatible (third-party) cartridges are typically 40–70% cheaper. Quality is fine from reputable sellers, but yields are optimistic, colour accuracy varies, and some brands (HP with HP+ in particular) actively block them. For a mono laser printing text, compatibles are usually the sensible buy; for colour or warranty-critical kit, stay genuine.
