Xerox C230 / C235 Black Toner 006R04383 (genuine, 1,500 pages)

By Seb Clark, Editor, UniDoc Solutions·Updated

Part no. 006R04383 1,500 pages Genuine Xerox

The C230's genuine black — Xerox's own cartridges are keenly priced and worth sticking with.

About 5p per mono page standard; the 3,000-page high-capacity black (006R04391) is better value.

Our take

The Xerox C230 takes the 006R0438x series (black 006R04383, cyan 04384, magenta 04385, yellow 04386 at 1,500 pages) and the high-capacity 006R0439x set (3,000 black / 2,500 colour). Unlike HP and Canon, Xerox's genuine pricing on Amazon UK is reasonable and the compatible market for the C230 is thin and poorly reviewed, so this is one printer where genuine is the easy call. Buy the high-capacity black if you print regularly.

Manufacturer highlights

  • SPECIFICATION: Genuine Xerox Part: 006R04383 - Page Yield: 1,500 Pages
  • RELIABLE: Compatible toners may risk breakdown, poor colours and reduced page yields. Print with Genuine Xerox Toners for spot-on results, vibrant colours and sharp edges
  • OPTIMAL: Original Xerox cartridges made by Xerox for Xerox C230 / C235 and work straight out of the box. Your printer reads the chip, you press 'Start' and it starts working
  • HIGH PERFORMANCE: Xerox Genuine cartridges are made for Xerox printers to work at their best. Independent testing proved Genuine Xerox Supplies to be more reliable and deliver up to 27% higher page yields than non-genuine alternatives
  • STATE OF THE ART: Made in factories conforming to some of the most stringent international health, safety and sustainability standards

Genuine vs compatible — which should you buy?

Genuine cartridges cost more per page but carry the maker's warranty, hit the quoted page yield reliably, and never trip firmware "unrecognised cartridge" blocks.

Compatible (third-party) cartridges are typically 40–70% cheaper. Quality is fine from reputable sellers, but yields are optimistic, colour accuracy varies, and some brands (HP with HP+ in particular) actively block them. For a mono laser printing text, compatibles are usually the sensible buy; for colour or warranty-critical kit, stay genuine.
