Our take
The 4202dw uses HP's newer TerraJet cartridges: 220A black (2,000 pages) plus cyan/magenta/yellow (1,800 pages each), and 220X high-yield versions. Compatible 220A cartridges are only just appearing and have almost no review history, so for a £500 business printer the genuine cartridge is the safe recommendation. Buy the 220X black if you print more than ~300 mono pages a month.

Genuine vs compatible — which should you buy?
Genuine cartridges cost more per page but carry the maker's warranty, hit the quoted page yield reliably, and never trip firmware "unrecognised cartridge" blocks.
Compatible (third-party) cartridges are typically 40–70% cheaper. Quality is fine from reputable sellers, but yields are optimistic, colour accuracy varies, and some brands (HP with HP+ in particular) actively block them. For a mono laser printing text, compatibles are usually the sensible buy; for colour or warranty-critical kit, stay genuine.
