Our take
The ET-3850 and ET-4850 use the 102 series, not 104. The difference matters: 102 black is a pigment ink (crisp text, smudge-resistant, better for documents) where 104 is dye. The black bottle is 127 ml and rated for about 7,500 pages; the three colours (70 ml each, roughly 6,000 pages) are sold separately as C13T03R240/340/440.
There's no multipack SKU on Amazon UK that's reliably in stock, so buy black plus whichever colour is low. Make sure the box says 102, not 104 or 106.

Genuine vs compatible — which should you buy?
Genuine cartridges cost more per page but carry the maker's warranty, hit the quoted page yield reliably, and never trip firmware "unrecognised cartridge" blocks.
Compatible (third-party) cartridges are typically 40–70% cheaper. Quality is fine from reputable sellers, but yields are optimistic, colour accuracy varies, and some brands (HP with HP+ in particular) actively block them. For a mono laser printing text, compatibles are usually the sensible buy; for colour or warranty-critical kit, stay genuine.
